Sandhills Adventrues

May 23-25, 2008

This might be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for to take that trip to the Nebraska Sandhills.

Walt Schacht will lead this guided tour of the central Sandhills and focus on Sandhills ecology, ranch experiences (e.g., branding), and fellowship.

We will stay at UNL’s 4-H Camp within the Bessey Unit of the Nebraska National Forest near Halsey. The camp is 2 miles west of Halsey on U.S. Highway 2 and is within a few hundred yards of the Middle Loup River.

The Halsey area is in the southcentral Sandhills and has some of the most picturesque scenery in Nebraska, especially if you like rivers (North Loup, Middle Loup, and Dismal Rivers), grassland landscapes, and ranch headquarters.

Late spring is the ideal time to visit the Sandhills because of warm days and cool nights, relatively few bugs, green hills and meadows, and active ranch schedules (including calving, branding, and moving cattle to summer pastures).

We will leave mid-afternoon on Friday, May 23 and return by early evening on Sunday, May 25. (Click here for the trip itinerary.)

Please complete the registration form (click here) and return it to the Church Office by May 1 if you would like to be part of this adventure.

The trip is limited to 25 people.
